Where did Sisters Rock Paper come from? Let’s start with inspiration. Alice is inspired by the magic of shape, light, shadow, life. Books that take you so deep you’re your imagination you’re not sure you’ll get out again. A fascination with bending space. Chasing the impossible. The desire to make something out of nothing. 

 

When Alice was two her mother found her with a pair of small scissors and the Sears & Roebuck catalog. “What are you doing Alice?” she asked. “Cutting out Li’l Things” Alice responded in a tiny voice. That was just the beginning. Judith came along several sisters later and just tried to keep up. Creativity has been a constant in their lives. Falling in love with paper was impossible to avoid. Some of the siblings write on it; several, including Alice & Judith, paint on it, but cutting paper is just The Best Thing. 

 

These designs have been percolating in Alice for a while, previously as one of a kind gifts that she longed to duplicate easily. She recently said, “If I had known in high school I could have this for a job I never would have done anything else.” But that was long before the internet and cutting machines and the reality that 3-dimentional creations could be transmitted out into the world for others to enjoy. Talk about Magic!
